Belong, Believe, Become.
What does that mean?
We love people.
We love our community.
And we love God.
Our church is approaching it’s one-hundreth year, but you’d never guess that by visiting. We are a vital, passionate congregation with an incredible heart for impacting the high desert community of Barstow.
God continues to affirm the calling and mission of BFMC, reminding us of a very important kingdom reality: 1 Corinthians 1:26-29 Remember, dear brothers and sisters, that few of you were wise in the world's eyes, or powerful, or wealthy when God called you. Instead, God deliberately chose things the world considers foolish in order to shame those who think they are wise. And he chose those who are powerless to shame those who are powerful. God chose things despised by the world, things counted as nothing at all, and used them to bring to nothing what the world considers important, so that no one can ever boast in the presence of God. (NLT) God has strategically placed BFMC within such a community as this and for such a time as this. He desires us to be a kingdom outpost of healing and hope and wholeness. We exist, not to selfishly cater to our own wants and needs but to the needs of others, especially those who do not yet know Christ. Our purpose is not to multiply members but disciples who function as missionaries, carrying the good news of Jesus to every corner of our community.
Therefore, belong, believe, become are much more than just words. They are powerful articulations of what our church stands for (i.e. our values) and is committed to living out.
